Hey my fellow SITStas! Every Tuesday I do this Tirade Tuesday thing and tell ya'll what is on my mind. On Mondays I feature my blog designs with Masterpiece Monday, Tuesday is Tirade Tuesday....Wednesday is Wordless Wednesday and Thursday is Thinking Back Thursday where I share stories from my past (like this). Enjoy! I'm excited about all the SITSta comment love that is on its way!! If you get a chance don't forget to visit my blog design portfolio at www.eightcrazydesignportfolio.blogspot.com
Oh, and don't forget to enter the giveaway today at Tip Junkie that is featuring an EightCrazy Designs giveaway for a $28 gift card towards a blog design!!
First things first....don't you ever just need to SCREAM!!! I won't get into why, because I can't think of a way to say it and not upset some people, but this is me SCREAMING!!!! AAAAAHHHHHHH! All I will say is, sometimes it's hard to watch people make the choices they make.
ok, moving on....
Young boys/men of today:
I've been taking my son to the skate park lately so he can have fun learning and doing "cool tricks" on his scooter and skate board. Have you been to one of these? It's full of young boys and they don't look AT ALL like young boys did...well..when I was youngER! The long hair, the jeans that don't fit to the point that they have to walk funny just to keep them up. The UNDERWEAR that should just be called OUTERWEAR! (seriously...why do I need to see their underwear?!) Them showing their underwear is no more appropriate than a girl's g-string showing...in my opinion!! PLEASE PULL YOUR PANTS UP BOYS!
Conspiracy Theory:
Do any of you ever get sent by your hubby to run an errand for him? An errand where he gives you specific details and instructions on what to get. Then you get there and tell the guy at the store and he just stares at you like you are a complete IDIOT? This seems to happen to me almost every time my guy sends me out. Now, I know he really loves me enough NOT to do this, but in that moment when I'm being looked at by the guy at Home Depot like I've lost my mind.....I think to myself, "Does he do this on purpose? Is it like a joke that husbands like to play on their wives and then laugh about it with their buddies?" Like I said, I know he doesn't, but seriously, do any of ya'll ever feel that way?
Gas Prices:
Today is the last day of school. Looks like I'll be staying home even more than I already have been! This is crazy people! I used to go to Target, Kohls, Ross, etc at least once a week. I had to go to Target this weekend to get Father's day gifts, and I couldn't even remember the last time I had been there! I'm totally stickin' close to home these days! I've always taken my daughter to school and picked her up from school most days as well. This last month we've totally switched to school bus both ways. Times are tight people! Are you feelin' it? What's changed in your life due to gas prices? The ridiculous part about it all is how we could be completely independent from foreign oil if we wanted to be....but instead we will just be GREEN and BROKE! Oh and I'm sure the pharmaceutical companies will end up benefiting from this as well because more people will end up on anti-depressants because of the stress of finances and loneliness from never going anywhere!
take it or leave it.......that's what's on my mind today!

and when does this challenge end? It needs a start and finish time. wv: plqfvrl
ReplyDeleteI am with you on the gas prices. I usually only leave my house twice a week or so. I do all my errands on one day. We only have to fill up my KIA about once a month so it is not too bad but still. It is awful. Something has gotta give or I am really nervous about where our economy will be in a year. wv: zixzbzh
ReplyDeleteOkay, in your first little section about "those boys", I agree with you but at he compete expense of knowing that I sound like I'm getting old.
ReplyDeleteYou go Shannon, tell us how you really feel! Like I have said, I miss Target, and all my other favorite stores. I'm sure they miss me too. But putting gas in the Expedition is crazy!
ReplyDeleteThe gas thing...try driving across town to work four to five days a week. Hubby has to do the same and we have to go seperate due to different hours. We also have to take and pick up the kids to daycare across town but in a totally different direction than work. Pretty soon it will be cheaper for me to stay home...hummmmmm :-)
ReplyDeleteFeeling the pinch everywhere. Someone needs to do something for the little people since the fat cats at the oil companies are sitting back laughing.
I must say, I'm really enjoying Tirade Tuesday...the way kids dress these days, to me, is just a reflection of the parents lack of ability to teach and lead their kids in a way that helps them to face the world in a respectful and productive manner. I don't want to see their underware when they are 10 or 40 yet this is the stage that has been set as acceptable by parents and thus we end up with the 40 year old sag...yuck...it's everywhere...that darn narrow road just keeps getting burried in bushes cause it seems very few are on it from the way things look through my eyes....
ReplyDeleteGas...ugh...just under $100 bucks to fill the Yucon this week and I'm down 1/3 of that from only 1 outing...sick...I think I'm looking to buy me a minivan for the 'run around town' days....
And yes, Very often I do want to just SCREAM by the choices people make...
My hubby rarely sends me on errands for him...I think he sticks to the motto 'If you want something done right, do it yourself'...works for me though! :)
going to check out that site now for announcements...
Amen, sitsta!
ReplyDeleteYou should be glad that's all you want to rant about!
ReplyDeleteI could go on and on and on and....
but then my fingertips would self-combust and make a mess of things.
Hubby would stand there looking at me with that stare you mention.
I do think, I could fill a Tuesday with a Tirade. Followed by Wine Filled Wednesdays, of course.
Re: Conspiracy Theory- Do you ever notice no matter how Starbucks-aholic you are no matter how perfect you place your order, they always repeat it to you the complete opposite of what you said?
ReplyDeleteRe: Gas Prices- I feel ya, I drive an Aspen, and to add to that ...a Hemi (don't ask me why I have a hemi, I don't even know what it is or what it does) and I am sure my SUV is a vampire.
Ohhhh - I love Tuesday Tirade - if you don't mind, I might adopt it on my blog - but I think I'll do Thursday Tirade because I already do Tuesday Toot! I promise I will give you full credit!
ReplyDeleteI'm soooo with you on the underwear/outwear - what is with that??? We live in Phx, AZ and I have had a few friends that have cancelled trips to LA because of gas prices this year. . .
I love a Tuesday Tirade! And, I'm with you on the gas prices. It's driving me crazy!
ReplyDeleteI here what your ranting and I am right there with you.
ReplyDeleteI totally hear you on the "yoof of today". I actually saw some boys with their pants half way down their butt and I asked my four year old to promise me he would never do that. He lied, I know he will!
ReplyDeleteAnd the gas prices are horrid! I live near Lake Tahoe, about 30 minutes away and we usually spend every weekend up there but I haven't even gone yet this summer! I go for the first time on Sunday and am car pooling with my friend. Definitely feeling the pinch, but at least we don't pay what they do back home in England, which is about $11 per gallon!
My around town errands have definitely come to a stand still and I plan out my routes much better. My husband and I lament the price of gas constantly. "remember when it was like $16.00 to fill your car and 5 bucks got you somewhere?"
ReplyDeleteI agree with the outerwear. My son's underwear shows but it's a diaper, c'mon, I don't need to see the boxers, no matter how cool they are
ReplyDeleteHi Shannon!
ReplyDeleteI hear you on these gas prices. I only have to fill up about twice a month, but even so, gas now eats up about 30% of my monthly disposable income. It's absurd. And that's basically just to get to and from WORK! GAAHHHH!
Can I add a rant to your tirade? And that would be: American companies need to let whomever can easily work from home, like me, WORK FROM HOME!! GAAAHHHH!
(Okay, thanks for sharing your space for me to scream some!)
:-)
I agree with everything!!!
ReplyDeleteTirades are always so much fun to do and to read.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the boys. I think it's so silly to see them running around with pants so low you see their underwear. They think it's cool, I think it's retarded!
I can't say I've had your experience with the conspiracy theory. BUT, I have had to buy some embarrassing things for my hubby...like hemroid cream. BUT, he's bought me tampons, so I guess we're even. for now.
I haven't cut back much on driving because I just don't drive all that much right now, except to the grocery store, the swimming pool and back. hehe BUT, we do have some road trips coming up to visit family this month, and it's gonna hurt the wallet.
Ahh I love your Tuesday Tirade!! Perfect! I mean, I love the idea and well, I love this week's version;) LOL
ReplyDeleteWe don't see that many boys showing off their *outerwear* around here anymore, but you still see a few, and I'm with you, I don't want to see that, nor do I want to see any girls thongs, especially if they don't need to be wearing them in the first place, lol
I don't like how the boys around here are wearing the girls jeans. I know its a style, I know its a trend, but I don't like it.
Do I ever feel like screaming just because? Uh, yea...daily, LOL
My husband never sends me to Home Depot, that is HIS sacred store, so I have never experienced that, thank goodness, I get the looks from everyone else tho, like "Lady, you are crazy" LOL
And these gas prices are a killer, I tell you! I really do find myself planning everything around one day, to get it all in, so that I don't have to drive. Right now I am totally saving money on gas since the kids are out for summer break, but come August, I'm going to be back to at least $100 per week...and that is going on gas prices NOW...who knows what August will bring *gasp*
Okay, I totally feel ya on the conspiracy theory. I can't tell you how many times the associate from Lowe's has looked at me like, "What kind of idiot is she married to?" I know my babe is not an I-D-10-T, but he knows my cell phone doesn't work inside the store, stupid nextel....and I wind up on a wild goose chase with an underpaid toilet man looking for some pipe that has a name like a body part! "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh." Gen 2:24.....:)
ReplyDeleteI think my husband sends me for things that he doesn't even know about --- just so I can be the one to look dumb asking --- it's the same thing if we need to call someone - he totally will have me make the stupid phone calls --- usually while he is driving -- he'll tell me he can't call because he's driving -- oh but if it someone he WANTS to talk to - he'll talk for miles!!!
ReplyDeletearound here the little skater boys wear SUPER tight pants. I don't get it, and its not much better than the big, baggy pants.
ReplyDeleteAnd gas, yeah, luckily I can walk most places and those that I can't (like Target) are super close. Of course my husband drives 140 miles (round trip) for work every day so he spends enough on gas for both of us!
Hey there SITSta! I was just saying to my hubby that I knew gas prices are bad when I got ALL EXCITED about lining up for almost 20 minutes at Sam's Club yesterday to pay ONLY $4.09 a gallon. A year ago, I remember how we were saying "Oh, gas won't go over $3.00.........$3.50......"
ReplyDeleteCriminy. We definitely are going out and about a lot less than we did even a summer ago, and it is depressing. Can't wait 'til they come up with an alternative fuel that is cheap and plentiful and green!
Cheers!
We only go to the skate park on the first day of public school--it's the only day it's not full of teenage hooligans skipping school. And what really angers me about the whole skate park thing is how vandalized it all is. The tax payers spend money to give you guys this nice place and all you can do is beat it up and spraypaint all over it. Nice guys, nice....
ReplyDeleteOf course we won't be going to the skate park at all this year because it costs $65 to fill up my mini-van! And I weep openly to go to the grocery store---that's where I'm feeling the price go up. Seems to me we have a HUGE reserve of coal and this frigid-as-heck-but-full-of-oil state we purchased for that very reason called Alaska whose people are practically BEGGING us to come suck the fossil fuel out of it!
There--did I sufficiently join you in your tirade :)?! That sure felt good!
I love a good rant. I'm all over just screaming out loud.
ReplyDelete- Suzanne, the Farmer's Wife
Boys clothes- I have a friend who is a cop. He tells me that this style of clothing has made their job infinitely easier. When they start to run for the police, they are so busy holding up their drawers or tripping over them that the police can pick them up like shooting fish in a barrel.
ReplyDeleteConspiracy- My husband doesn't do that to me. I am notorious for doing it to him.
Gas prices- They are TEH SUCK.
I think the worst husband thing, and it is a thing they either do on purpose or they are really not as smart as us. Is when you send them to the store for something simple and they mess it up, EVERY Time. I want Laundry detergent. My Child Husband, can't read I guess and brings back TWO HUGE bottles of Fabric Softener. I don't even use Fabric Softener (gums up the machine). So I visit my older son and what is he using as detergent??? Fabric Softener, yes, men are hopeless!
ReplyDeletescreaming over from SITS~i'm loving this theme day. but it stifles my creativitiy so i don't think i'll implement it. wait, maybe i'm just lazy. i tried the picture a day thing and my computer glared at me all day because it knew i was trying to ignore it and not post a picture. did that make any sense? ok bye
ReplyDeleteYou go girl! Tell it!
ReplyDeleteI can't agree more with you on all three rants. Underwear, not overwear. Husbands- it really must be a conspiracy. Gas- I stay home all the time now. No, "let's get out today for the fun of it". Ugh.
ReplyDeleteSITS Sistas unite!!
It isn't a conspiracy at all - my husband (then boyfriend) did this too me when we were first together! I was sent to the hardware shop to buy gaseous gas, except being English he pronounced it 'GAYSHUS' gas. Fortunately the girl serving me had no idea either so I went home empty-handed. When I told him CK was in fits of laughter. He still raises it (nearly 20 years later) as an example of my naivety!!!
ReplyDeleteI SOOOO agree with you on ALL of these! Visiting from SITS!
ReplyDeleteI like Tirade Tuesdays! I agree with the young men today. NOT attractive, guys!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being the SITS featured blogger! :)
That is just too funny about the boys and their pants. I did a post about that On my blog, entitled 'Penguins Walking' because that's exactly what they look like!!
ReplyDeleteIf it's any consolation, my husband does exactly the same thing to me, re sending me to get stuff. I agree, I think it's a male conspiracy!! I now make him go or at least come with me.
1st: I own one of those boys at the skatepark, hate to admit it, but I do, he is just what you described.
ReplyDelete2nd: Yes my husband does that too. But I take the cell phone with me, and call him as soon as I get to te store.
3rd: Gas prices are god awful. My kids just don't get it, and insist on having me drive them everywhere. I charge them for gas.
Great Blog:
(janes blog)
My husband tells me things that make me look stupid all the time. He tries to cover it up by saying that he thought I knew he was joking!
ReplyDeleteVisiting from SITS...
ReplyDeleteLittle girls don't dress too conservatively these days either, and OMG the man sending you on a mission thing! I've been there, done that TONS of times. I feel your pain SITSta!
*don't even get me started on the gas subject!* Grrr
I don't have any of these problems; son wears his pants at his hips, Hubby does his own errands, and I have plenty of gas money. (And if you believe all that, you have more troubles than I thought! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the GREEN and BROKE comment. So true, so true. Don't get me wrong, green is good, but everything can be taken to the extreme.
ReplyDeleteThose low rider pants drive me crazy! Oh, but not in that way. In an annoyed way. It takes everything I have to not go over and yank 'em up.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of the underwear being visible... what about the poor male teachers who have to deal with this. They can't say anything for fear of being accused of something nasty but it's SO inappropriate.
ReplyDeleteAnd I had never thought about all the parents who drive their kids to school (I'm not really there yet with the option of bus/drive). I do wonder how much more crowded the buses will be next year though....
I had to sell my antidepressants to buy the gas to get my son some pants that fit him because his father doesn't understand that he should take him even when I say it r e a l s l o w ...
ReplyDeleteI think the gas prices are putting a hurting on everyone. Gas prices and grocery prices and everything that has prices at the end.
ReplyDeleteLOL Agree on the BOYs pulling up their pants. Haven't done that kind of thing for hubby YET. GAS PRICES!! OMG!! I've been working and I think it's killing us even more but for us to keep food in the house I HAVE TO WORK.
ReplyDeleteYep, we put the kabosh on vacation plans which included flying to CA... driving to Vegas... Checking out some National parks and driving back to L.A. to fly home. Fuel prices being what they are, eventually we smacked ourselves in the head and said, "What are WE thinking?"
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately for me, I commute five days a week, and it's just about killing me. An hour each way is putting a real dent in my life. I'm looking into carpooling, but that has its downsides, too. When do we win??
ReplyDeleteYep, we're feelin' it. Summer's going to be mighty boring around here.
ReplyDeleteFeel better now? :)
ReplyDeleteYep, sometimes a scream in a pillow helps lighten the load a little.
some days there isn't a big enough pillow! LOL! Great idea on Tirade Tuesday, going to have to do one of these in the near future
ReplyDeleteI might have to join in your Tuesday Tirades....that seems right up my alley! I'm totally there with you on the screaming.....about the gas prices!!!
ReplyDeleteI love that Beckie is the first in the comments and as of now I am last. That's so me and Beckie...
ReplyDeleteYou rant away, girl...get your Tirades on. Because when someone is as talented as YOU, I think lots of ranting and raving is warranted. I'm seeing your work everywhere--so glad I jumped on the 8 Crazy bandwagon before Oprah's people get a hold of you.
You've inspired me to do a Tuesday Tirade! Yes, I agree about the Hub's sending us to the store for something and they either don't have it and we have to drive around to like 3 other locations and when we get back its like we took forever which we women usually never do (that's the guy thing to do, LOL) and they start pointing the finger basically reversing roles with us for a minute. The boys of today scare me and I have 2 boys, thank GOD they are only 3 and 16 months.. but I promise myself my boys won't be wearing "outwear" not, while I'm around anyhow. ..
ReplyDeleteWe came via SITS, Love your writings and your designs!
Your tirades are great! Totally unrelated, but succint and get straight to the point! Love it!
ReplyDeleteHopefully we'll look back at the saggin' pants in 15 yrs and say "dang, remember when that was popular?"
OMG I can sooo relate to the whole husband sending you out thing...there is nothing I hate more than that feeling when the sale clerk looks at you like you have two heads...I try to get as many details from hubby before I leave, but still I end up with some dweeb acting like I'm nuts....
ReplyDeleteI hate it when i get that blank look from they guy at the hardware store. Although secretly i like to think that he's the one that doesn't know anything.
ReplyDelete
