Birthday Boy - 5 years old!

Well, I've got 2 parties down and one to go. Today Colt celebrated his birthday with a party at school and a family party in the evening. He started off the day with his brand new bike!

Then it was off to school for some learning and some cupcakes. When evening rolled around all the family came over and we celebrated with pizza, more cupcakes, and ice cream. He got several great gifts from the family and stayed up a little late playing with his new toys. I love this Wilton cupcake stand that my friend Beckie got me a couple years ago for Christmas! It's such a cute way to display cupcakes. I used these cute toothpick flags from the Martha Stewart Crafts line (Halloween edition). A perfect match with my pirate theme! I topped the top cupcake off with a pirate ship for the birthday boy.

We all got into the pirate act with some "pirate teeth"

I think it's a good look for us.

Time to get ready for the party with his friends. I baked the cake tonight, now I just have to decorate it tomorrow!

  2. My hubby can print big signs because he has a plan printer/plotter. Problem was that only the background, the ship and the "H" printed, so I literally had to print out all the rest of the letters on my computer and cut them out individuall and then glue them on! Turned out cute though!

  8. Another great cake post! After seeing your baked cakes in the last pictures, I'd love to get some tips on the actual cake baking part. I love decorating, but my cakes are always so domed, I end up cutting most of it off. Sometimes the sides are only half or 3/4 inch tall! Maybe it's my pans? Maybe it's my cake mix? I'd love to hear your input if you have the time and inclination to share... : )
