Our friends son Luke, who will soon be 7 years old, was just recently diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. I was talking with Luke's Aunt the other day and she told me a story about how someone asked him what he wanted. He replied with two answers. He said that he wanted "100....no 500 prayers." Then he said that "before he left the hospital he wanted a needle so that he could give every doctor a shot." Well, I don't think there's much we can do about the shots, but we can give him 500 prayers.
So here is the idea I have. If you already have been, or you will commit to praying for Luke and would like to be a part of his 500 prayers just leave a comment with your name, the state you live in and your prayer for Luke.
I am doing both of the following with all the comments:
1. Put your name on a blue star (Luke's favorite color is blue) and taking them to Luke's hospital room and hanging them on the wall so that Luke will have a visual reminder each day that he has his 500 prayers.
2. I am making a booklet for Luke with all of the names and prayers and bringing it to him to have in his room as a tangible reminder of his 500 prayers.
If you are a local...SHHHHH...don't tell Steve and Vikki. I'd like it to be a surprise. Spread the word! I'd like to get these to Luke as quickly as possible so that he can see just how many people are praying for him.

When I used to work Peds, the kids decorated thier rooms all the time. If it were me, I wouldn't even ask. I would just go in there and do it with a big banner saying what all the names are. Those kind of things are a great witness to hospital employees. I would ask for forgiveness not permission :-)

ReplyDeleteI have not stopped thinking about you since I first heard you were in the hospital! Let me just tell you...our God is a God of miracles. He is BIGGER than any disease and bigger than ANY doctor! You see, my son was hospitalized last year, at nearly this exact time with an enlarged mass in his abdomen. There was talk of it being a tumor. We were eventually sent home and were told to come back in 2 weeks to see the "progress" of this unknown mass. So....after a long two week wait, we came back for more testing and ultrasounds and can you believe it....the mass was completely GONE! ONLY GOD! My Elijah was healed because people prayed and BELIEVED in our mighty GOD!!
God can heal you too...and we are praying for you!! Hang in there! I know the needles hurt, but you are going to have one amazing testimony!!

Sometimes you can spend your whole life dreaming of going to disney world. You imagine what every ride will be like. You know what you will say to the disney characters when you get there. You know this is going to be the best experience of your life. But When you get off the plane you realize you did not go to disney at all. You ended up in six flags. I know, this is terrible! It is not what you dreamed of at all. Then you realize, Six Flags has a lot of wonderful things to offer you. No, it is not at all the same as Disney World. But there are still some wild rides and great people to meet. You still have a blast. It is not the same trip you wanted or planned for but it is the trip God wanted you to take. He made it special for you.
