I was just listening to the radio and this song came on. I was brought to tears by the powerful words. I've heard it before. Several times. But I don't think I had ever really listened until a few weeks ago.....We have some dear friends who have been through more than some people have to go through in a lifetime and they are only in their early 30's. The loss of both parents and they themselves being near death and undergoing emergency surgeries.
One of them gave their testimony at church a few weeks ago and during it he mentioned how this song had really hit home for him. Take a minute to read the lyrics of the song "Bring the Rain" by MercyMe. It's VERY powerful and SO TRUE! It's been true in my own life, and I watched this other family live out the truth of these words as well.
I can count a million times
People asking me how I
Can praise You with all that I’ve gone through
The question just amazes me
Can circumstances possibly
Change who I forever am in You
Maybe since my life was changed
Long before these rainy days
It’s never really ever crossed my mind
To turn my back on you oh Lord
My only shelter from the storms
But instead I draw closer through these times
So I pray
Bring me joy, bring me peace
Bring the chance to be free
Bring me anything that brings You glory
And I know There’ll be days
When this life brings me pain
But if that’s what it takes to praise You
Jesus Bring the Rain
I am Yours regardless of
The dark clouds that may loom above
Because You are much greater than my pain
You who made a way for me
By suffering Your destiny
So tell me what’s a little rain
Holy, Holy, Holy
Is the Lord God Almighty

ReplyDeleteI have always loved that song too!
ReplyDeleteCory's testimony a few weeks back was so amazing and really helped put a face and life to the truth of that song. Every time I hear it now I am reminded that Jesus does allow the rain, but also carries us through it.

ReplyDeleteI bought the song on itunes after his message. I love it. Very encouraging. Thanks for the uplifting post. :)
ReplyDeleteWish I could have heard his testimony. that song is amazing!
ReplyDeletegreat song - i sing it often! as much as we don't want the rain sometimes, it is so worth the beauty on the other side! thanks for sharing this post.
ReplyDeleteI heard this song days after baby Hazel died. It played a major part in the way that I viewed God and who I am in Him following that trial. It also helped me realize that pain and suffering come our way because we live in a broken world but that God is greater and He can work it together for GOOD... Romans 8:28! No matter how bad the enemy stirs our life up and tries to take our focus and praise away from God... this song always helps to bring me back to Him. I love to belt in out when I'm in the car!
ReplyDeleteI love this song as well. I also like "Praise you in this Storm" by Third Day. Or Casting Crowns - I'm getting my groups mixed up here but know it's one of them. I think Third Day. Anyway! I hope that things look up soon for your friends. If He brings you to it, He will see you through it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the lyrics to this song. I shared them with a friend. I don't think I have heard this one. I am going to have to go listen to it.
