Packing up my hope chest!

I don't know about you, but I have a hope chest and in it are all of my treasured memories from growing up and on into my married life. I was packing it up today and going through all of it. I came across this box of poems that I wrote in junior high......and yes, I'm going to be a BIG DORK and share one with you! This is my homage to teenage love:

Forever
By Shannon the Teenager (probably 1987..ish)

The words we whispered quietly
on a moonlit night.
The promise that we live by
which seemed so very right.

Everything has been displaced,
the love has been upset.
And yet, there's a painful yerning
It seems I can't forget.

The plans we made are all erased
No more dreams of us together.
And now that we're apart,
Tell me, what happened to forever?

It's moving right along!

It's been busy at the property and the house is in full swing!

This was last Monday. They had laid out the floor plan and basically it's kind of like drawing out where the walls will be. It was fun to actually walk the floor plan for the first time!

By last Thursday the exterior walls were up and the house was beginning to take shape. By the end of the day on Friday nearly all the interior walls had been framed in and I could really begin to see the house for the first time!

This is a shot after you come through the entry and look left down the hallway towards the kids rooms.

This shot is from the entry looking into the family room. You can see where the two sets of french doors will be that take you out onto the back deck. On the left of the pic you can see where the family room leads into the nook and the pass thru to the kitchen.

This shot is from up on the hill. It's kind of cool becaue you can see the floor plan.

So like I said, it is moving along! Trusses will come tomorrow (those are what form the shape of the roof!) I went to the cabinet company and turned in all my drawings on Friday. Very exciting!

CUP...BAT.....MOP

Tonight we were sitting around talking and my hubby was saying that he thought our son could probably learn to read if we worked with him on it. He is in preschool right now and will go to Kindergarten in the fall. So we get out a Dr. Seuss book and start working on some 3 letter words.....HE DID IT! He was able to sound out words like mop, cat, top, pot, bat, cup!!!! Very exciting! Just had to share my proud parent moment with ya'll!!

In other exciting household news......the new house has exeterior walls and the new shop has a concrete floor! I'll post pics tomorrow!

Visual Interest

So I'm at the point with the house where we are ordering trusses. That means I have to decide how to vault ceilings, or if I want them vaulted, that kind of stuff. It seems like such a boring decision, but a ceiling can actually add a lot of character to a room. Here are some pics of some ceilings that I like. I love the visual interest they can bring to a room.

More stuff for SALE!

Really cute for little girls bedroom or nursery. (Again these are for local lookers, I just don't have time to be shipping things.)

These are art pieces that I hand painted and modeled after pottery barn paintings. They were $90 a set at PB and since I'm cheap I did my own version.

Set #1 Butterfly & Ladybug - $20

Set #2 Flowers & Butterfly -$20 (it's 3 dimensional..some of the butterflies and flowers are felt that's sewn onto the canvas) -

The last thing I have are these letter tiles that spell "EMILY" The tiles are set in wood. You could easily repaint the wood any color or even modge podge it with paper to fit your color scheme.....anyone with a little Emily out there? $10
yes, the butterfly is for sale too!!!....$8

Cool Craft Tool

Have you guys heard about this new thing? It's called "Slice" from making memories. I don't even think it's out in stores yet. I REALLY want to know how much it cost!! Wow, it is sooo cool!

For Sale!!

I have a ton of things that I need to sell since I'm moving. Maybe it's weird to post them on here, but I have local lookers, so I figure....what the heck!

First Item: $70 for the whole shebang!
This is a lovely Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic set "Postage Stamp" It is a twin quilt, flat sheet, two pillow cases, two white chenille pillow shams, and one decorative pillow.

It will also come with several accessories to help complete the look! Lamp with lampshade covered in matching fabric. Mirror, vases, candle holders.
The other thing that will be included are three wrought iron garden fence pieces. Hang them on the wall side by side to create an instant headboard!
Here I have the twin quilt turned sideways on a queen sized bed. The flat sheet is actually a queen size sheet. So if you use it for a twin bed just tuck it real good, or go ahead and alter it.

2nd item:
Dining Room Table with 8 Chairs - $800
See Craislist PostingID: 571942253 for more details

Where did Shannon Go?

Hey all you bloggers out there! In case you haven't noticed I've been taking a little break. I'll get back to it in the next couple of days. There's just been a lot going on. Coming back from a trip like Nicaragaua and walking into a house fill with boxes and everything in disarray has been a little crazy. Not to mention other things going on that have been taking up my time on a personal, thought process level.

I'll say this until later about Nicaragua.....
It was a little bit different experience than I thought it was going to be. However, it was a good and unique experience. I saw things that opened my eyes to the needs down there and had the opportunity to see how Forward Edge International is working to meet those needs.
I learned that literal living conditions might be different, but in many ways life is the same. Some kids go home to families filled with love and joy, and some do not. But that's the same here too!
I met some kids that I will never forget and in them I saw much hope and joy!

From those who have little, much can be learned.

Till later....

Ten Years! Happy Anniversary Babe!

Today is my 10 year wedding anniversary! Wow! There have been some good years and some bad years.....if I'm being totally honest. But the last 2.5 years have been the best of the bunch! We've learned, we've grown, and we've allowed God to restore what needed to be restored!

Ten years later I can honestly say that I love my husband, he loves me, we are committed to our marriage and we are genuinely happy! We feel very blessed.

Happy Anniversary Babe!
